Jarvis bids rejected

Gillingham star Matthew Jarvis has reportedly had two bids for him from two championship clubs rejected by the club. Jarvis, 20, has been linked with many championship clubs and a handful of premiership clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and also Manchester UTD.

Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City were reported to have bids of £250,000 rejected by Gillingham chairman Paul Scally by newspaper 'The Sun'.

Matty Jarvis made his senior debut against Sunderland three years ago. During his Gillingham career Matty has found the net fifteen times, five of those coming this season.

After impressing with same occasional senior appearences and impressive reserve and youth games, Jarvis was rewarded a senior contract - which he signed at th final home game of the season in May 2004. Matty scored his first ever senior goal in the one nil victory over Wolves during the 04-05 season.

Last season Jarvis won 'Young Player of the Year' award and the 'Goal of the Season' award. Speaking about Jarvis, Gills boss Ronnie Jepson spoke of his intent to hang onto his star man.

Earlier last month, Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson said, "As fas as I'm concerned I'd like to see Matty Jarvis here for a long long time. Not just as a player, but as a lad as well, he's a credit to himself and his family, how he conducts himself on and around the ground, on the training ground, and he always gives you 110 percent on the pitch. He's the type of lad I want to keep here, not to sell.

"Matty still gets plenty of the ball, he gets in those little holes, and he'll cause teams problems," Jepson said.

It is hoped that these bids, if the rumour is true, will start a bidding war for the Gills man. It is unlikely that despite Jepson's hopes, Gillingham shall hold onto their star man.

Anymore news on Matty Jarvis shall be covered by GFC Online....
